Marie Helsmoortel is Head of Private Banking Zone Centre ING

Marie Helsmoortel is a graduate in Romance Languages from the University of Antwerp, has studied Political Science and Philosophy of Language at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of California, San Diego. She developed software for natural language translations in La Jolla California for one year and then moved to New York in 1987, where she ended up as a Management Trainee in the International Private Banking Department of Republic National Bank of New York. In 1990 she moved to Geneva. She worked for Bank Cantrade (later acquired by Société Générale) where she was responsible for a large portfolio of private clients. From 1998 to 2002 she was an independent advisor on Corporate Governance for Private Companies with fundraising activities. From 2002 to 2006 she was in charge of non discretionary asset advisory at UBS in Paris. From 2006 until 2008 she was responsible for the Key Client Activity of UBS in Brussels. Since September 2008 she is head of Private Banking Brussels at ING Belgium where she manages a team of about 40 people.
